On Friday, May 16th, Cannon Elementary: A GCISD STEM School transformed into a vibrant hub of career exploration for its 21st Annual Career Day! With an incredible lineup of 43 presenters representing 35 diverse careers, students were treated to a day filled with inspiration and discovery through hands-on learning and exciting presentations. From the thrill of flying as a pilot to the innovative world of sound healing, students heard firsthand from professionals in fields like systems & chemical engineering, television production with an executive producer, a veterinarian with a therapy dog, and even Mrs. Texas International! The variety of careers showcased allowed students to imagine their futures and explore paths they may have never considered. Adding to the excitement, representatives from the high school’s CTE Department contributed, featuring programs in Marketing, Health Science, and Engineering. Additionally, the FFA wowed attendees by bringing along a mother and baby cow! Local community groups also joined in the fun, including the Grapevine Fire and Police Departments and Nash Farm, enriching the experience with insights into essential services and public safety careers. Graduating seniors, mostly former Cannon Cubs, from GHS, CHHS, and Collegiate inspired 5th graders by speaking about applying for college, receiving scholarships, and their future career plans. They ended by giving advice about how to be successful in middle and high school. Cannon Elementary's Career Day was not just an event; it was a celebration of possibilities, sparking dreams and ambitions in students’ hearts. What an unforgettable day of learning and exploration!
