Congratulations to the classes who received hearts for perfect attendance this week!! Remember when all your students are present and your complete your attendance on time in Skyward, your class will receive a heart! The class in each grade level with the most hearts at the end of February will receive a special treat!
5th grade is raising funds for their field trip by selling Valentine's Grams!
Valentine's Day will be here before you know it, and plans are underway for grade level parties which will be held on Wednesday, February 14 during Specials.
Valentine's parties will take place in the gym for the entire grade level during the time below:
PK: 10:25-11:00
Kinder: 8:25-9:00
1st: 9:15- 9:50
2nd: 11:15-11:50
3rd: 12:05-12:40
4th: 2:10-2:45
5th: 1:25-2:00
Parents wishing to attend the party will need to sign up to volunteer on the PTA Sign Up genius which will be shared in the Dolphin Tales, Facebook and PTA grade level coordinator email. There will be stations that students will rotate through for the party and we need the help of our volunteers to make it a fun experience and run smoothly!

Grade levels will also decide how and when students will exchange valentines including needing or making a bag or box to hold the valentines. This information will be in grade level newsletters this week.

Today is the BIG reveal!!! What book will we be reading this year for One School One Book (OSOB)??
We will announce to students during an assembly this afternoon, and students will be provided with a copy of the book and a packet of information for families!
Here's what you need to know:
**Families will read the assigned chapters aloud to your student each night, listen to the recorded video, or have your student read to you!
**At 3:30pm each day, a Facebook post, Text, and Live Feed announcement on our website (https://des.gcisd.net/o/des) will share the Trivia Question and a link to a video recording of a staff member reading aloud the selection for the night.
**Every night of reading there is a Trivia Question! Trivia Answer slips are in the packet. Students answer the Trivia Question and turn it into the box in front of the office before 7:40 each morning! On our morning announcements, 10 slips will be selected, and the students who had the correct answer will win a PRIZE!
**OSOB starts January 16 and ends March 8!
